In order to establish effective and successful PPGs, GP practices will require training in the following areas:

  • An in-depth understanding of the complexities of PPGs
  • How to ensure that the PPG fits into the environment of a General Practice
  • Ensuring that the PPG meets the criteria laid down by the Department of Health in order to receive the financial incentives on offer
  • The level of voluntary assistance required, and providing appropriate training for volunteers
